Armed Forces' success in south, shelling of Kharkiv, creation of fund to help Ukraine: the last night's highlights
The Armed Forces of Ukraine in the south destroyed 110 occupiers and almost three dozen units of Russian hardware; the Russians shelled Kharkiv again; Macron announced the creation of a special fund for military aid to Ukraine. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.
Success of the Armed Forces in the south
On October 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the southern front destroyed 110 Russians and their hardware. The Ukrainian aviation carried out 15 strikes on the occupiers, as reported by OC “Pivden”.
The command confirmed that the Russian occupation troops in the south of the country lost:
- 6 tanks;
- 8 large-caliber Msta-B and Msta-S howitzers;
- Grad MLRS;
- 2 S-300 SAM systems;
- 9 armored vehicles;
- Sani mortar system;
- Nona-S self-propelled air-droppable mortar.
Downing Shaheds
On the evening of October 7, the Defense Forces of Ukraine shot down 3 more Iranian-made Shahed-136 kamikaze drones in the south of Ukraine, the “South” Air Command reported.
Thus, from 20:00 to 21:30 Russian occupation forces attacked Odesa and Mykolaiv Oblasts with three kamikaze drones. All three drones were shot down by the forces and means of air defense of the “South” Air Command.
Creation of a special fund to help Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron announced the creation of a special fund in the amount of 100 million euros, with the help of which Ukraine will be able to obtain the necessary weapons.
Macron noted that the fund will allow Ukraine to buy the necessary equipment directly from French manufacturers. According to Macron, the purpose of creating the fund is to support Ukraine in the face of Russian armed aggression.
Kuril Islands are a territory of Japan occupied by Russia
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed a decree on the recognition of the Kuril Islands as a territory of Japan, which was occupied by Russia. The Verkhovna Rada also made a corresponding statement.
Shelling of Kharkiv
On the night of October 8, the Russian occupying forces shelled Kharkiv, previously with missiles. As a result of the hits, the medical facility caught fire.
“After the hits, there were fires in the center. According to preliminary information, one of Kharkiv's medical facilities is on fire, as well as a non-residential building,” said city mayor Ihor Terekhov.
