Zelenskyy strips four MPs of citizenship

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has deprived MPs Viktor Medvedchuk, Taras Kozak, Renat Kuzmin and Andrii Derkach of Ukrainian citizenship. "If MPs choose to serve not the people of Ukraine, but the murderers who came to Ukraine, then our actions will be appropriate. And these are not the last such decisions," the President emphasized.

He noted that he had decided to terminate citizenship in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and on the basis of materials prepared by the Security Service and the State Migration Service.

Another NASAMS system for Ukraine

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that his country will buy another NASAMS air defense system from the United States for Ukraine. The politician did not specify when exactly the purchase will take place and when the NASAMS system will be delivered to Ukraine.

The first two NASAMS batteries arrived in Ukraine in early November. Subsequently, the United States announced its intention to transfer six more units under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

Baerbock's visit to Kharkiv

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock arrived in Kharkiv on January 10. She became the first representative of the German government since February 24 to visit eastern Ukraine. The official arrived in the city at the invitation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. Baerbock said she wanted to get an idea of the situation in Kharkiv and listen to the residents who are holding on against the backdrop of the winter hostilities.

"This city is a symbol of the absolute madness of Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine and the endless suffering that people, especially here in the east of the country, face every day. This city is also a symbol of the incredible resilience and courage of Ukrainians," the minister stressed.

She also announced that Germany will allocate €20 million to Ukraine to pay for Starlink services.


Fighting for Soledar

In the morning of January 10, the UK Ministry of Defense intelligence suggested that the Russian military may already control most of Soledar, Donetsk Oblast.

However, the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevatyi stressed that Ukrainian defenders continue to hold positions in the city. According to him, the situation near Soledar remains the most difficult on the eastern front. Ukrainian servicemen are exhausting the occupying forces as much as possible.

In the evening, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Malyar said that heavy battles for the city's retention are ongoing.

"Revenge" for the strikes

Volunteers Serhiy Prytula and Serhiy Sternenko have announced what they decided to spend 352 million hryvnias ($9.6 million), which they collected in October for "revenge" after the massive missile attack ob Ukraine. Ukrainians were promised that they would buy 50 RAM II kamikaze drones with ground stations worth 100 million hryvnias ($2.7 million). These drones are capable of flying up to 30 kilometers.

Eventually, on January 10, Sternenko and Prytula showed that they had indeed purchased such drones. They also noted that they will also purchase drones that will fly 200 or 800 kilometers. "Russians, we can play this game together. Good night, Moscow," Prytula and Sternenko stressed.

Losses of the occupiers

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine estimated that on January 9, the Defense Forces destroyed 710 Russian soldiers, four tanks, seven armored combat vehicles, four artillery systems and other equipment. In total, Russia lost 112,470 of its troops during the full-scale war, according to the General Staff.
