Combat clashes on the southern front and the destruction of ISIS leaders in Syria: the last night’s highlights

In the south, there were three combat clashes between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the occupiers, and the United States announced that it had killed three ISIS leaders in northern Syria with an airstrike. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

Military clashes in the south

On October 6, there were three combat clashes between the Russian occupiers and the Defense Forces on the southern front. The Ukrainian military repelled enemy attacks and inflicted losses on it.

During the day, the Ukrainian servicemen in the south destroyed 105 occupiers, 48 hardware units, as well as 3 ammunition depots in Bashtanka and Beryslav Raions. Another 6 units of enemy hardware were significantly damaged.

Destruction of ISIS leaders in Syria

The US said its special operations forces had carried out two major strikes against the Islamic State group in northern Syria. As a result, three high-ranking militants, who were responsible for arming and recruiting fighters, as well as planning attacks, were killed.

As a result of the overnight attacks, the heaviest blow was inflicted on the Islamic State group since a raid in northwestern Syria in February when the terror group's top leader was killed.

Deoccupation of Kherson Oblast

In six days, starting on October 1, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated more than 500 square kilometers and dozens of settlements in Kherson Oblast from Russian occupation, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The head of state noted that the Armed Forces are also successful in the eastern direction, but he did not give details yet.

Candidate for the position of the National Bank head

The Verkhovna Rada's Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy recommended supporting the appointment of the former head of Oschadbank, Andrii Pyshnyi, as the head of the National Bank. Now the decision is up to the parliament.

Pyshnyi took part in the committee meeting and emphasized that the most important priority is cooperation with the IMF. He also supported keeping the discount rate at 25%.

New bodies with traces of torture in Kharkiv Oblast

On October 6, law enforcement officers found the bodies of two men with their hands tied and traces of torture in de-occupied Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi in Kharkiv Oblast. One of the dead had bruises, the other had traces of a bullet wound and a wound on the head.
