Militants of Russia-controlled "DPR" said that on July 10, British citizen Paul Urey died in their captivity. Paul Urey did not participate in hostilities and was an aid worker.

Darya Morozova, the so-called ombudsman of the puppet state "DPR," also reported the volunteer's death.

"From our side, despite the severity of the crime, Paul Urey was provided with appropriate medical care. However, given the diagnoses and stress, he died on July 10," said Morozova.

The Guardian noted that at the end of April, the Russian military captured two British aid workers, 45-year-old Paul Urey and 22-year-old Dylan Healy, in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. They were volunteers of the non-governmental organization Presidium Network which carries out evacuations of families and individuals from war zones.

Urey and Healy were going to evacuate a woman with two children. They were heading towards Dniprorudne in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast and were captured at a checkpoint by Russian forces. The "DPR" militants accused Urey of allegedly being a mercenary.

The Ukrainian or British sides have not commented on the volunteer's death yet.

The Ukrainians released from captivity report that Russian forces resort to brutal treatment, torture, and abuse of captives.
