Guerrilla movement in Melitopol caused an accident of a Russian armored train

The Resistance Movement of Zaporizhzhia Oblast caused an accident of a Russian armored train in Melitopol on May 18. Wagons carrying personnel and ammunition from occupied Crimea overturned, detonating ammunition, reports Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

Local authorities report that in recent times the Russian military has not serviced the railway access tracks in the temporarily occupied territories but still use tracks overloading them. This leads to fast deterioration of the tracks. In some places, tracks cannot maintain the load and break down.

"Due to Russian negligence in Melitopol, the tracks were in poor condition. It was enough for the representatives of the Resistance Movement of Zaporizhzhia Oblast to put a simple coin on track to cause an accident of the Russian armored train," says the Administration's statement.

It is reported that the train carrying personnel and ammunition from the temporarily annexed Crimea derailed. Several carriages overturned, which caused the detonation of the ammunition. Two Russian army cranes arrived at the site of the accident.

Zaporizhzhia Regional Administration also reported an explosion in Melitopol on May 18, after which the Russians opened fire. Eyewitnesses say a grenade exploded near the Russian commandant's office.

Situation in Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Currently, part of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast along the Sea of Azov, in particular Melitopol and Berdiansk, is under the control of the Russian occupiers.

The Resistance Movement is active in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Recently in Melitopol, Ukrainian guerrillas liquidated high-ranking Russian servicemen. A conversation intercepted by the State Security Service of Ukraine indicated that Russian soldiers in Zaporizhzhia Oblast complained to each other about "Ukrainian saboteur groups."

In April, Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine established that between March 20 to April 12, 2022, 70 Russian service members, including Kadyrovites, were liquidated during night patrols in the temporarily occupied Melitopol, supposedly by Zaporizhzhia Resistance Movement.
