Olga Kharlan's disqualification revoked
The International Olympic Committee has granted automatic qualification for the Olympic Games to Ukrainian athlete Olga Kharlan, who was disqualified from the World Fencing Championships on July 27.
This was followed by the World Fencing Federation's decision to overturn Kharlan's disqualification. Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba congratulated the athlete on the restoration of her right to participate in competitions, including the Olympics.
"Truth and dignity prevail when we all stand up for them and fight as one. Now on to new victories, our hero!" he wrote.
Appointment of Acting Head of the Ministry of Culture
Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Rostyslav Karandeiev as acting Minister of Culture and Information on July 28.
Since July 2020, Karandeiev has been the deputy of former Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko, whose resignation was voted for by the Verkhovna Rada on July 27. The decision was supported by 321 MPs.
Attack on Dnipro
The Russian forces launched a missile attack on an apartment building in Dnipro on the evening of July 28, reported Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko. The attack also damaged the Ukraine Security Service's office, causing the fire in an area of 100 square meters.
As of 23:30 p.m. local time, the number of people injured has increased to 9, reported Serhii Lysak, the Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration. The upper floors of the apartment building were damaged. The fire in the SSU building has been extinguished. Rescuers and police are working at the scene. Klymenko noted that door-to-door visits are being conducted, and people are being provided with the necessary assistance.
NACP draws up administrative protocol against Kyrylo Tymoshenko
During the inspection, Ukraine's National Agency on Corruption Prevention found that former Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, used his powers in his personal interests. In particular, he tried to arrange visas for himself and his son; during 2022, the former official stayed at the Emili Resort hotel complex in Lviv three times for free.
Based on these facts, the NACP drew up and sent to the court a report on administrative offenses against Kyrylo Tymoshenko. His actions were classified under Parts 1 and 2 of Art. 172-7 (violation of requirements to prevent and resolve conflicts of interest) and Part 1 of Art. 172-5 (violation of statutory restrictions on receiving gifts) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
The NACP invited the former official to come on July 28, 2023, at 15:00, to hand over a protocol on his commission of a number of offenses. Despite his promises, Tymoshenko did not show up. The agency will send him the protocol for review by mail.
