Russia said that former Ukrainian MPand collaborator Oleksiy Zhuravko died in Kherson, and the Russian military attacked the center of Odesa with kamikaze drones and tried to attack Mykolaiv.
Death of collaborator
Russian media reported that a rocket strike on the center of Kherson on the morning of September 25 killed two people, including former MP and collaborator Oleksiy Zhuravko. They note that the strike was carried out from the HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system on a hotel in the center of Kherson. Emergency services are working at the scene, the debris is being cleared and the victims are being searched.
In 2006 and 2007, Oleksiy Zhuravko was elected to the parliament from the Party of Regions. He is accused of high treason for calling for the seizure of Ukraine by Russia. He called the Ukrainian government "Nazi" and "puppet".
Warning to Russia
U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that the United States "privately, at very high levels" told the Kremlin that any use of nuclear weapons would have catastrophic consequences for Russia, because Washington and its allies "will respond decisively."
"We have, in public, been equally clear, as a matter of principle, that the United States will respond decisively if Russia uses nuclear weapons," Sullivan said.
Zelenskyy is most influential Jew of 2022
The Jerusalem Post has named Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the Most Influential Jew of 2022. The Ukrainian leader is ahead of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne.
Journalists say that Zelenskyy has caused such changes in the world order that have not been seen since the fall of the Iron Curtain: he has turned almost the entire Western world against Russia and its President Vladimir Putin.
Drone attacks
Russian occupation troops again attacked Odesa with kamikaze drones. Three times the enemy hit the administrative building in the city center. One drone was shot down by air defense forces. There were no casualties.
Later it became known that the invaders tried to attack Mykolaiv with an Iranian Shahed-136 kamikaze drone, but it was neutralized by air defense forces.
Shooting down of Russian attack aircraft and helicopter
The Air Force Command reported that the soldiers of the Odesa anti-aircraft missile brigade shot down a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft that attacked Ukrainian troops in Kherson Oblast. To rescue the Russian pilot, the occupiers sent an Mi-8 helicopter with a team on board, but the Ukrainian military destroyed it as well.
Captured Ukrainians
Russia still holds 2,500 Ukrainians in captivity, including many civilians. Civilians have not been released for several exchanges in a row. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister — Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk.
According to her, there are many women in captivity. In particular, 131 women were released from Azovstal alone. The Minister says that the occupiers treat them terribly in captivity.
