“The NATO—Russia meeting planned on April, 20th, 2016 is not meant in any way a signal of normalization of relations between NATO and Russia”

“The NATO-Russia meeting planned on April, 20th, 2016 is not meant in any way a signal of normalization of relations between NATO and Russia,” – Alexander Vershbow, Deputy Secretary-General of NATO said.

“When they Illegally annexed Crimea and soon after that launched the destabilization in Eastern Ukraine, the leaders, in this case – our foreign ministers, agreed that we have to suspend all practical cooperation with Russia, which had been taken place under the umbrella of the NATO-Russia council. And that remains our position,” he stressed.

Alexander Vershbow, Deputy Secretary-General of NATO, delivered his speech at the Global security forum GLOBSEC in Bratislava on April, 16th, 2016.
