The United States has allocated a new military aid package to Ukraine, Zelenskyy fired Ukroboronprom CEO Husiev, and the government supported the remonstrance of top Kyiv officials and the dismissal of several district state administration heads in Kyiv. We have collected the main news for the day.
A new package of weapons from United States
The United States has allocated a new $500 million military aid package to Ukraine. The aid is aimed at supporting Ukrainian counteroffensive operations and strengthening Ukraine's air defense.
The package will include 30 Bradley fighting vehicles and 25 Stryker armored personnel carriers, as well as artillery rounds, HARM anti-radar missiles, and additional ammunition for Patriot and HIMARS systems.
Personnel decisions due to inadequate condition of shelters
The government approved the dismissal of two heads of Kyiv district state administrations - Desnianskyi and Sviatoshynskyi - and suspended the heads of Podilskyi and Dniprovskyi administrations. Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhiy Popko, will also be remonstrated for the inadequate condition of the shelters.
In Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov also announced that he had fired the person responsible for the poor condition of the city's shelters.
Strikes on Kramatorsk
Russians launched two missile attacks on Kramatorsk. The first hit was on a catering establishment in the city center, where there were visitors, and the second hit was in the village of Bilenke. Three dead and 25 wounded have been reported.
Attack in Poltava Oblast on the anniversary of the strike on Amstor mall
Russian occupation forces attacked Poltava Oblast with Kh-22 missiles. A dacha cooperative was hit in Kremenchuk district. Buildings were destroyed, one child was injured.
The strikes took place on the anniversary of the attack on the Amstor shopping center in Kremenchuk, Poltava Oblast. This time, the occupiers used the same missiles as last year.
The end of the quarantine
On July 1, Ukraine will end the quarantine and emergency imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
The situation at the front
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on June 27, Russians launched an offensive on the Shakhtarsk axis towards the recently liberated village of Rivnopil, but were unsuccessful.
Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyar said that the offensive on the Bakhmut axis has been going on for four days. And the Ukrainian military is making daily advances on the flanks, "gradual but steady." The military has not yet entered the city of Bakhmut.
It was also reported that the Ukrainian military captured nine militants of the newly formed Russian private military company Veterans near Bakhmut.
Dismissal of Ukroboronprom Director General
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree dismissing Yuriy Husiev from the post of Director General of the state-owned defense concern Ukroboronprom, after his resignation.
According to Economic Pravda's sources, the government has decided to replace the current Ukroboronprom CEO with Herman Smetanin, the head of Kharkiv's Malyshev plant, but this decision has not yet been announced. Journalists note that the reason for this was, in particular, the failure of the missile program.
