Nine cruise missiles, nine attack drones downed over Ukraine

During the night of March 31, air defense forces shot down 9 out of 14 cruise missiles and 9 out of 11 Shahed attack drones that the Russian military used to attack Ukraine, reported Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk.

The Russian forces launched 14 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic aircraft (launch area: Saratov Oblast of the Russian Federation).

In addition, the aggressor launched 11 Shaheds (Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia, occupied Crimea), an "Iskander-M" ballistic missile (Crimea) and an X-59 guided missile (occupied part of Zaporizhzhya Oblast).

As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, the air defense forces managed to shoot down 18 air targets: 9 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles and 9 attack drones.

Anti-aircraft missile units and fighter aircraft of the Air Force, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the air attack.

What are the consequences?

In Odesa Oblast, all drones were shot down, but the falling debris caused a fire at one of the region's power facilities, which resulted in a power outage in several settlements. The fire has been extinguished and no one was injured. Restoration work is underway.

In Kherson Oblast, in addition to drones, the Russian military simultaneously used ballistic missiles and a guided missile. They hit a mothballed agricultural enterprise. No one was injured, the Southern Defense Forces said.
