More than 700 Azov fighters have been in captivity over seven months, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court on the law on renaming. Here's what you may have missed from the previous night.
Azov fighters still in captivity
According to the mother of a prisoner of war Natalia Kravtsova, more than 700 Azov fighters have been in captivity for seven months.
According to her, although the defenders of Azovstal have been exchanged, recently there are no Azov fighters among them.
"There is an opinion in the society that the history of Azovstal is over, all Azov activists have been returned or only they are being returned," said Kravtsova.
UOC (MP) insists on its name
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in response to the decision of the Constitutional Court said that now "there are no legal grounds for renaming".
"The statutory documents show that the UOC is registered in accordance with Ukrainian law, its founder is the Council of the UOC, its religious center, as well as all the governing bodies, are located in Kyiv," said the head of the Legal Department of the UOC (MP), Archpriest Oleksandr Bakhov.
Got lost in the mountains and died
A Ukrainian who illegally crossed the border and got lost in the Maramureș mountain range was found dead in Romania.
According to Romanian media, six citizens of Ukraine hadcrossed the border in the mountains on December 24. Two were found the same evening, and two more on December 26.
Evacuation from Donetsk Oblast
A free evacuation train will run from Donetsk Oblast to the town of Smila in Cherkasy Oblast.
Evacuation will be carried out from Pokrovsk, starting from January 2, once every four days.
The Ministry of Reintegration assured that in Cherkasy Oblast IDPs will be accommodated in free shelters, financial, humanitarian and psychological assistance, as well as social support will be provided.
On December 27, due to damage to the main gas pipeline in Kharkiv Oblast, boiler houses were forced to shut down in Donetsk Oblast.
Cyberattacks on the energy system
During the year, the Security Service neutralized hundreds of Russian cyberattacks on Ukrainian energy facilities, almost 30 of them could have become supercritical.
