Petition for Zelenskyy's Resignation Reaches Over 25,000 Signatures

A petition that calls for the new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's resignation has reached over 30,000 signatures in just one day. It was registered on May 22 and, since it has reached the required 25,000-signature threshold, now needs a response from Zelenskyy himself.

The petition starter Maksym Bezruk called Zelenskyy's first actions and statements as president a disgrace and "personal whims."

"Most of the votes you received were protest votes. Your persona does not unite the Ukrainians with contrasting views and desires at all," the petitions reads. "The situation with the "servant of the people" not having any moral responsibilities formed during the pre-election process before his nation is unacceptable."

According to the law, any Ukrainian citizen can start an electronic petition addressed at the president of Ukraine. If a petition reaches 25,000 within three months, it needs to be considered by the president and his team.

The petition's status on the president's website currently reads as "waiting for consideration."
