Plant for assembling Shahed suicide drones attacked in Russia's Tatarstan. Ukraine's military intel behind the attack
Ukrainian intelligence has attacked a Shahed attack drone assembly facility in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, reported hromadske's source in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to our interlocutor, the plant where Russians assemble Iranian Shaheds, labeling them Geran-2, came under attack. This operation was conducted by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
"There was significant damage to production facilities," our source stated.
The republic's authorities claimed that Tatarstan's enterprises in the cities of Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk were attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles. No serious damage was allegedly done, but there were injuries.
Local Telegram channels reported that the explosions were heard in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, where industrial and manufacturing enterprises are located.
According to the United States, Alabuga maintains a contract with the Russian military to assemble Shahed drones. The U.S. Treasury Department predicted that this special economic zone intends to increase production to produce thousands of drones by 2025. Alabuga is owned by the government of the Republic of Tatarstan.
