​​Poland transferred PT-91 Twardy tanks to Ukraine

Poland handed over PT-91 Twardy battle tanks to Ukraine. The number of tanks is not disclosed, the Polish Ministry of Defense Krzysztof Platek spokesman said.

Poland now experiences a shortage of weapons: more than 200 T-72 tanks are needed. There is also a shortage of PT-91s ( modernized versions of Russian T-72M1 tanks), but the exact number is not disclosed. Poland plans to close the deficit with supplies from South Korea.
The Head of the President's Office of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak, also confirmed that Polish PT-91 Twardy tanks had already arrived in Ukraine.

The PT-91 is equipped with a 12-barreled 81 mm Khmara smoke grenade launcher and a single 80 mm Tellur anti-laser grenade launcher. The tank also has ZU-72 anti-aircraft weapons on the tower. The driver has a Radomka passive night vision device, and the bottom under the driver's seat is reinforced with additional armor.

The main feature of the tank is the protection using active armor developed by Polish ERAWA, which consists of almost 400 protective blocks. Tests have shown that ERAWA increases the tank's survivability by 30-70%, depending on the type of projectile, and a special coating that reduces the tank's visibility in the infrared and radar ranges.
