Poles suspend protest at the border
Polish hauliers say they have reached an agreement with the Polish government on “certain terms” and will suspend their protest until March 1. They promised to unblock truck traffic at Korczowa, Hrebenne and Dorohusk.
Poland's Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak noted that there is still "a lot of work to be done."
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine confirmed that Polish carriers had unblocked the border at Yagodyn-Dorohusk, Krakivets-Korczowa, and Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne.
Creation of a register of persons liable for military service
The Verkhovna Rada has passed a law on the digitalization of the Ukrainian army, which, among other things, provides for the creation of a unified electronic register of persons liable for military service linked to a unified register of voters and automatic granting of combatant status.
The Ministry of Defense says that this bill is “critically important for Ukraine's defense capabilities”.
At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers has amended the procedure for reservations for employees of military-industrial enterprises.
Zelenskyy in Davos
On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, major financial institutions, and representatives of large global businesses.
He also met with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to discuss air defense and Ukraine's long-range capabilities.
With the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the President agreed to start screening Ukrainian legislation.
Bihus.Info's New Year's corporate party
A video of Bihus.Info employees using drugs during a New Year's Eve corporate party has been posted online.
The founder of the Bihus.Info project, Denys Bihus, noted that the video shows part of the project team, namely the cameramen. According to Bihus, the journalists did not use drugs.
He assured that such actions would result in tough personnel changes. He also noted that today, January 16, everyone who works with Bihus.Info will take drug tests.
According to the journalist, the Bihus.Info team members had been under surveillance for about a year, and the New Year's corporate party was part of an operation by an “unidentified service”.
Grenade bomber in Zakarpattia faces life in prison
The deputy who detonated grenades during a meeting of the Keretsk village council in Zakarpattia region faces a harsher punishment, as two victims died in hospital.
As the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office told hromadske, the suspect is still in the hospital. Investigators ordered a psychiatric examination. The investigation is currently ongoing.
