Prisoner swap, attacks on Kherson and Dnipro: highlights of the day

Ukraine returned 12 more people from captivity, and the Russian military continued to shell Ukraine, in particular, they hit Kherson and Dnipro. We have collected the main news from today.

Prisoner exchange

During another exchange of prisoners, Ukraine returned home 12 service members and civilians. Four soldiers of the Navy, two National Guardsmen, a member of the territorial defense and a border guard returned home.

Among them are two officers and seven privates and sergeants. They defended Mariupol, Chornobyl NPP and Snake Island. Three civilians were also released from captivity: a married couple and a man who was considered missing. Overall, 98 Ukrainians were returned from captivity over the past week.

The way to NATO and the EU

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo signed a declaration of support for Ukraine's accession to the European Union and NATO. This declaration does not impose obligations on Belgium, but has political weight.

"You demonstrate to the whole world what is worth fighting for — democracy, open society where people treat each other with respect and condemn senseless violence," De Croo said.

Restoration of the energy system

As of this morning, the power system remained in deficit at -25% of the consumption needs. Therefore, restrictions continue throughout Ukraine. However, power supply continues to be restored.

In Kyiv, starting from November 26, it is planned to ensure that the power outage for each resident lasts no more than five hours in a row. Mayor Vitaliy Klychko does not rule out that from November 27 the capital will return to scheduled blackouts.

In the evening, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in 14 oblasts and in Kyiv there are still restrictions for more than 100,000 households in each region. If consumption increases, the number of outages may follow suit.

Missile strike on Dnipro city

Russian troops launched a missile attack on the city of Dnipro this afternoon. There are destruction and victims. Already 13 victims have sought medical assistance. Four of them are in hospital, including a 17-year-old boy. Rescuers continue to clear the rubble. There is a possibility that one more person may be there.

Shelling of Kherson

On November 26, Russian occupation troops shelled Kherson five times. One person died as a result. Since November 20, there have been 80 strikes in Kherson. During this time, Russian shelling killed 16 people in the city, 35 more were injured, including one child.

Russian losses

Ukrainian troops killed 560 Russian troops on November 25, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported. During the full-scale war, Russia lost 86,710 of its soldiers. Also, Russians lost two tanks, four armored combat vehicles and other equipment over the past day.
