Retreat of Russians in Kherson, attack on Vinnytsia Oblast, air defense systems from Spain: last night's highlights
Ukrainian troops continue to force the occupiers to retreat to the east bank in Kherson Oblast, and Russians struck critical infrastructure in Vinnytsia Oblast. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.
Retreat of occupiers in Kherson Oblast
Ukrainian troops continue to advance the front line closer to the east bank of Kherson Oblast, Operational Command "South" reported. At the same time, Russians continue to move units and equipment between the two banks of the Dnipro River, set up defense lines on the east bank, and shell Ukrainian positions on the west bank.
"The enemy troops are urgently packing into boats that seem suitable for crossing and trying to escape," the command says.
In particular, the servicemen of the Carlson special forces unit raised the Ukrainian flag in the village of Novokairy, Kherson Oblast.
Attack on Vinnytsia Oblast
Russian occupation troops hit one of the critical infrastructure facilities in Vinnytsia Oblast on the night of November 11. There were no victims. Rescue services arrived at the site of the attack.
Additional air defense systems from Spain
Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles said that her country will provide Ukraine with two more HAWK air defense systems in addition to the four units that were transferred earlier.
In addition, Madrid will give Ukraine a battery of 105 mm howitzers and train Ukrainian soldiers to use them. The country will also supply additional generators to help ease Ukraine's power shortages following Russian strikes on the energy sector.
Kalibr carriers on combat duty
Russia has put two missile carriers with 16 Kalibr missiles on combat duty in the Black Sea, according to Operational Command "South". The command believes that this is how the Russians hint at their readiness to take revenge for "uncomfortable, difficult decisions" in Kherson Oblast.
Therefore, OC "South" does not rule out new massive missile and drone attacks on the territory of Ukraine. The threat of missile attacks and remote artillery shelling in the regions close to the combat zone and in the occupied territories also remains.
Exposing collaborators
The Security Service of Ukraine stated that since February 24 it has exposed more than 700 collaborators, including 227 in the recently liberated territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts. So far, 265 criminal proceedings have been sent to court on charges of 268 people. Other cases are currently being investigated. There are already sentences against 53 people.
Among the defendants is a resident of Sumy Oblast, who at the beginning of the full-scale invasion "brought" more than 120 units of occupiers' equipment to the outskirts of Kyiv, the SBU says. The man himself offered to show the Russians a safe way to Kyiv when they crossed the border.
Resumption of train traffic in Kharkiv Oblast
State rail company Ukrzaliznytsia has completed the restoration of infrastructure and repair of the contact network on the section between Kharkiv and Izyum. Therefore, on November 10, electric trains started running on this route.
Prior to that, rail buses ran on the route Kharkiv-Izyum, which provided railway communication until the full restoration of infrastructure.
