The Russian Federation has started issuing passports to the residents of the occupied territories of Ukraine’s Luhansk and Donetsk regions. This was told to the RBC news site by sources in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
According to them, documents are issued at two temporary checkpoints on the Russian-Ukrainian border. One source said that some 1,200 applications for passports in the occupied Donbass have been approved so far. In total, 12,000 residents in so-called Donetsk and Luhansk “people’s republics” applied for Russian passports, RBC’s sources claim.
Earlier, the head of the so-called “DPR” migration service, Vladimir Krasnoshchoka, said that first 34 residents of the self-proclaimed republic had already arrived in Russia to obtain citizenship.
