Strike in Kharkiv and bail of UAH 30 million for ex-advisor to the Presidential Office: highlights for April 4

Russian troops carried out a double strike in Kharkiv, killing rescuers. The HACC remanded former advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine Artem Shil in custody with an alternative bail of UAH 30 million: the bail was posted the same day. Russians strike at Kharkiv

On the night of April 4, explosions were heard in Kharkiv. The authorities reported that Shahed drones hit residential buildings.

Later, it became known that the Russians had struck Kharkiv again during the liquidation of the consequences of the previous strike. Three rescuers and a 68-year-old woman were killed at the site of the second strike. Another 12 people, including a rescue worker, a police officer, and a nurse, were injured.

During the shelling, the Neutron Source nuclear facility, designed for scientific and applied research, lost its external power supply. The emergency power supply system was operating normally.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russians had hit a residential building with three Shahed drones. Zelenskyy called the Russian attack a “vile and cynical attack”.

In total, Russia attacked Ukraine with 20 Shahed drones at night. 15 drones struck Kharkiv.

Verkhovna Rada supports gambling business restrictions

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy has approved a draft law on the liquidation of the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries and called for tighter control of the gambling business.

The revised draft law provides for, among other things, restrictions on gambling advertising (including the inadmissibility of speculation on war and volunteering) and a ban on sponsorship.

Pre-trial restraint imposed on former Presidential Advisor Shylo

The High Anti-Corruption Court has remanded former advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine Artem Shyl in custody with an alternative bail of UAH 30 million. He and six other people are suspected of embezzling UAH 94.8 million from Ukrzaliznytsia through the purchase of transformers during martial law.

Later, the HACC informed hromadske that Shylo was released on UAH 30 million bail. Now he has to comply with several obligations, including surrendering his passports and wearing an electronic bracelet.

Hackers who hacked Kyivstar identified

Ukrainian law enforcement officers have already identified those involved in the hacker attack on the Kyivstar mobile operator in December 2023.

Thus, law enforcement officers plan to serve notices of suspicion to members of the SandWorm group, which is a military unit of the GRU 74455, the head of this military unit, and the leadership of Russian military intelligence.

The materials in this case are also going to be transferred to the International Criminal Court.

Attack on the 128th Brigade's formation site: new details

The Security Service of Ukraine believes that Russians were able to launch a missile at the 128th Brigade's formation site in the Zaporizhzhia region, killing some of them, due to technical penetration of the device.

According to Ilya Vitiuk, head of the SBU Cyber Security Department, Russian hackers send phishing messages to hack into the messengers of specific military personnel. When they manage to “hack” the device, they get access to messengers and computers through email.

An adjuster at a cafe in Kramatorsk was convicted

A resident of Kramatorsk, who aimed a Russian missile at a cafe on June 27, 2023, was sentenced to life in prison.

The attack killed 13 people, including Ukrainian writer Victoria Amelina. Among the dead were four children. It is also known that 64 people were injured.

Those with limited fitness must undergo a military medical examination

All persons liable for military service and servicemen who were previously determined to be partially fit must undergo a military medical examination again by February 4, 2025, the Ministry of Defense said.

Soldiers found unfit will be dismissed from service, and those liable for military service will be removed from the military register. Instead, fit servicemen and women will continue to serve.
