A car with a local collaborator was blown up in occupied Starobilsk in Luhansk Oblast on August 11. Oleg Shostak, one of the heads of the election headquarters of the United Russia party, was blown up in occupied Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia Oblast on August 12.
A car with a local collaborator was blown up in occupied Starobilsk in Luhansk Oblast on August 11. Oleg Shostak, one of the heads of the election headquarters of the United Russia party, was blown up in occupied Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia Oblast on August 12.
This was announced by the Head of the Luhansk Regional
Military–Civil Administration Serhii Haidai, and the Melitopol Mayor, Ivan Fedorov.
According to Haidai, the partisans blew up the car of the so-called chief of MREV (until 2015, this was the name of the registration and examination departments of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in Ukraine.). The official said that on August 11, gas exploded in the collaborator's car – he was hospitalized in a serious condition. According to Haidai, the collaborator has cooperated with the occupiers since 2014.
Melitopol Mayor said that Oleh Shostak also survived the detonation but was injured. He is a close associate of Yevhen Balytskyi, whom the Russians appointed as the so-called head of the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Shostak is the head of the media propaganda department at the headquarters of the Russian party United Russia.
Earlier, on August 9, partisans damaged the headquarters of the Russian party United Russia in Melitopol.
In July, the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the local population's resistance was intensifying in the occupied territories of Kherson Oblast. This forces Russians and collaborators to use security. Most of the collaborators do not appear in public and only walk around surrounded by Russian guards because, in recent weeks, there have been a number of attacks on collaborators in Kherson Oblast.
CNN, citing US officials, reported that Russia lacks the strength to control the occupied territories of Kherson Oblast. US officials say assassination attempts targeting pro-Russian collaborators over the past two weeks indicate the growth of the resistance movement against pro-Russian authorities occupying parts of southern Ukraine.
