Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna to Suspend Oppositionism to Help Combat Coronavirus

The leader of the Batkivshchyna parliamentary faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, said her political force was suspending its opposition to government due to the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

Addressing the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on the air of ICTV channel on March 23, she said that her team understands what challenges the current government faces in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, and will thus temporarily "suspend its opposition" and instead lend a helping hand to the government and the president.
"Mr. Prime Minister, I absolutely understand what an array of problems the Ukrainian authorities are now facing. And so our team consciously decided to suspend the opposition, and generally to suspend any political pickets, confrontations. We have now decided all we can to help you and the government, as well as the president. We will use all our expertise and resources to help overcome such a difficult stage of our lives in this situation," Tymoshenko said.
