Ukraine returns bodies of 100 fallen defenders
Ukraine has returned 100 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers as part of another repatriation event, reported the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are ensuring the transportation of repatriated bodies and remains to designated state institutions. They will be handed over to law enforcement officials and forensic experts to identify the victims.
After the identification of the dead, their bodies will be handed over to their families for a dignified burial.
The fallen defenders were brought back thanks to the cooperation of the Coordination Center with the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armed Forces, the State Emergency Service and other representatives of the security and defense sector. The Center also expressed gratitude for the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said that more than 2,800 bodies and body fragments of fallen Ukrainian soldiers have been identified so far.
