Ukrainian army liberates more territories, US hands over new HIMARS systems: highlights of the day

Defense forces liberate Ukrainian lands
On October 4, the Ukrainian military unfurled the national flag in the village of Davydiv Brid, Kherson Oblast.
Borova village council in Kharkiv Oblast reported the liberation of two more villages — Bohuslavka and Borivska Andriyivka. Earlier it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered Borova village near the Oskil River in Izyum district.
In Lyman, Donetsk Oblast, which was completely cleared by the Ukrainian military on October 2, the state flag was solemnly raised. Regional authorities stress that it is too early to return to the liberated lands. Large-scale demining work continues there. In addition, "a difficult winter is ahead, which will be extremely difficult to survive."

US President Joe Biden in a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth $625 million. It will include 4 HIMARS systems, artillery systems and ammunition, as well as armored vehicles.
Negotiations with Putin off the table
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the impossibility of holding talks with the current head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in response to the announcement of the annexation of four oblasts of Ukraine.

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Kyrylo Shevchenko announced that he is resigning. He stated that he made this decision "for health reasons that he cannot ignore any longer".
