Ukrainian court sentenced 9 militants from the self-proclaimed DPR to 15 years in prison. They fought against Ukraine and were detained in Kharkiv Oblast, says the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).

Investigators found that the men joined illegal armed forces before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24. The SSU says militants received Russian weapons and then were sent to Kharkiv Oblast, where they participated in fighting against Ukrainian forces. The court found them guilty of high treason and participation in illegal armed forces, sentencing them to 15 years in prison.
The trial of the Russian service members

This is not the first sentence for detained militants or the Russian military. A court recently found four Ukrainian detainees guilty of treason and sided with the Russian forces. Militants from the unrecognized DPR were sentenced to 15 years in prison.

In Poltava Oalst, three members of the "People's Militia of the DPR" who fought against Ukraine were sentenced to 15 years in prison. Their "commander" was convicted earlier.
On May 23, the first Russian service member stood trial for the murder of a civilian Ukrainian. A 21-year-old sergeant Vadim Shishimarin was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a civilian resident of Sumy. Two more Russian service members were sentenced to 11.5 years in prison, they were found guilty of shelling of Kharkiv Oblast.
