Ukrzaliznytsia replaces Biden's plane, EU looking for ammunition for Ukraine: last night's highlights

Ukraine's state rail transport company Ukrzaliznytsia helped Joe Biden get to Poland. The EU is considering where to procure ammunition for Ukraine. And the occupiers are amassing aircraft, but cannot bring them to the border. Here is what you may have missed from the previous night.

Biden resorts to services of Ukrzaliznytsia

After his visit to Kyiv, US President Joe Biden left for Warsaw. On February 21, he is scheduled to meet with his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda.

Ukrzaliznytsia confirmed that it helped the US president safely get to Kyiv and return to Poland.

"Where Air Force One (the presidential plane - ed.) does not fly, Ukrzaliznytsia takes over. Train Force One is for leaders who have the courage to fight evil. Personally," the carrier's press service wrote.

Ammunition for Ukraine

EU foreign ministers met in Brussels on February 20 to discuss the idea of joint purchases of ammunition to help Ukraine.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that the best way to provide Ukraine with ammunition in the coming weeks is to share the existing stockpiles of European armies.

Russia unable to bring its air force to borders of Ukraine

At the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia amassed more than 700 warplanes and helicopters for the war against Ukraine. Currently, despite losses, the occupiers retain approximately the same number of aircraft due to replenishment.

However, it is impossible to bring the aircraft to the borders, as new airfields are needed, said Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command.

Construction of subway to Kyiv's sleeper neighborhood resumes

Kyivmetrobud has resumed construction of a subway section from Syrets station to the Vynohradar area of Podilskyi district.

Viktor Brahinskyi, the head of Kyiv Metro, explained that construction of the Vynohradar metro station was halted after the general contractor reported that it was not able to perform the work when the full-scale war began and martial law was introduced.
