Resignation of Minister Solskyi and increased military support from Denmark: April 25 highlights

The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solskyi submitted his resignation letter to the parliament. Ukrzaliznytsia facilities in three regions came under massive Russian attacks. Resignation of Agriculture Minister Solskyi

Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solskyi has submitted a resignation letter to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The day before, he was charged with illegal seizure of land in Sumy Oblast.

In a statement provided to hromadske, Solskyi said that he considers resignation to be the right step.

Increased support from Denmark

The Danish government and the majority of parties in the parliament have agreed to increase military aid to Ukraine by another 4.4 billion Danish kroner (590 million euros) for 2024.

The participants of the agreement note that most of the military support approved for this year has already been allocated. However, Copenhagen has decided to allocate additional funds because it believes that there is a need for further assistance this year.

Allies discuss return of Ukrainian men

The day before, Poland announced that its country could help Ukraine return conscripts home. He says that Poles are outraged when they see Ukrainians of military age "in hotels and cafes."

Lithuania authorities do not rule out that they can facilitate the return of men of conscription age. However, specific scenarios have not yet been considered there.

Meanwhile, the US State Department said that Washington has no decision or official position regarding Ukraine's attempt to return conscripted men to defend their Motherland. However, the US government respects Kyiv's right to determine its own policy.

In turn, Germany has announced that Ukraine's decision to suspend consular services for Ukrainian men of draft age will not affect their refugee status.

Massive Russian attacks on the railway

on April 25, Russian troops shelled the railway infrastructure of Donetsk, Kharkiv and Cherkasy oblasts.

In Donetsk Oblast, three railway workers were killed while performing the work, and four others suffered shrapnel injuries and contusions. They were hospitalized. The occupiers also attacked Kharkiv Oblast. Among the 10 injured are three railway employees.

The enemy attack also damaged the railway infrastructure in Cherkasy Oblast. There were no casualties.

Rada supported the creation of a register of people who suffered as a result of Russian aggression

The Verkhovna Rada adopted as a basis the bill on the registering of people whose lives and health were harmed as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

In the explanatory note, it is noted that the State Register of Damaged/Destroyed Property already operates in Ukraine to compensate for damages caused by the Russian military. But until now there was no register of damage caused to the non-property rights of Ukrainians.
