Attempt on Zelenskyy's life and a death in territorial recruitment center in Dnipropetrovsk region: highlights for May 7
The SBU says it has foiled a Russian plan to eliminate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and representatives of the country's top military and political leadership. A conscript suddenly died on the territory of the military training center in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The Defense Intelligence disrupted the online services of the Russian company 1C. We collected the main news for May 7.
Attempts on Zelenskyy, Budanov, and Maliuk
A group of Russian agents, including employees of the State Protection Department, was preparing an assassination attempt on President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the head of the Defense Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk, and other Ukrainian officials.
To assassinate the intelligence chief, the Russian agent was supposed to observe his movements under guard and pass information to the Russians. A missile strike was planned on the house where Budanov was supposed to be staying.
Death in the territorial recruitment center in the Dnipropetrovsk region
A person liable for military service suddenly died on the territory of the Saksahanskyi territorial recruitment center in Kryvyi Rih.
The military enlistment office claims that the man had an epileptic seizure. They say an ambulance was called and the man was given first aid until it arrived. The police officers who arrived at the scene stated that the man died of biological death without signs of physical impact, the military enlistment office claims.
At the same time, the daughter of the deceased man stated that her father did not have epilepsy, and he died allegedly as a result of being beaten by the employees of the territorial recruitment center.
Disabling of Russian 1C services
Cyber specialists of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine have disabled the online services of the Russian company 1C, which specializes in the support and development of computer programs for maintaining business databases, Suspilne reports, citing sources in the intelligence services.
Military aid from Kosovo
Partially recognized Kosovo will provide Ukraine with ammunition for 120-mm, 60-mm, and 81-mm mortars. The Balkan country will also provide military trucks for the transportation of personnel and weapons, armored vehicles, and tactical vehicles to support units in Ukraine.
Conflict between locals and IDPs in Kovel
A dispute and fight broke out in Kovel, Volyn region, between locals and IDPs who were listening to Russian-language music loudly.
The police registered the incident and conducted an investigation. All the participants in the conflict were interviewed, and some of them were subjected to administrative proceedings. In addition, one of the women wrote a statement about the infliction of light bodily harm.
Pre-trial restraint for Metropolitan Luka
The Solomianskyi District Court of Kyiv imposed a pre-trial restraint on Metropolitan Luka (Andrii Kovalenko) of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. He is to be held under nightly house arrest for two months. Luka himself did not admit guilt and asked to be released.
