Spain to send €1.1 billion's worth of Leopard tanks, Patriot missiles to Ukraine
Spain plans to send Patriot air defense missiles and Leopard tanks to Ukraine as part of a new €1.13 billion arms package announced last month, El Pais reports with reference to sources.
Kyiv will receive more than a dozen anti-aircraft missiles for the Patriot and 19 used German-made Leopard 2A4 tanks, as well as other Spanish weapons, such as anti-drone equipment and ammunition.
The new aid will be officially announced during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Madrid on May 27, where he will meet with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and King Felipe VI.
The cost of the new package was approved by the Spanish government last month, but until now it was not known exactly which weapons would be transferred to Ukraine.
Ukraine and Spain are expected to sign a bilateral security agreement during Zelenskyy's visit to Madrid.
