Rada adopted a draft law on the English language
The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading the draft law on the use of the English language in Ukraine, which was submitted by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2023.
The document provides for the official establishment of the status of English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine. They will also determine those positions for which candidates must necessarily know the English language.
However, Yevheniya Kravchuk, deputy head of the humanitarian committee of the parliament, assumed that the adoption of the law will not lead to the dismissal of current civil servants who do not know English, but they will not be able to grow in their careers.
Biden: Ukraine does not need to join NATO for peace
US President Joe Biden claims that peace in Ukraine will come when it is possible to ensure that Russia never occupies it. For this, in his opinion, Ukraine does not necessarily have to join NATO.
At the same time, according to him, NATO will have the same relations with Ukraine as with other countries to which the Alliance supplies weapons.
Meanwhile, US Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith said that at the July summit in Washington, the Alliance will present Ukraine with a package of security measures that will serve as a "bridge" to membership.
"Reserve+" users can be served a draft summons on the street
Conscripts who have updated their data through the "Reserve+" application can still be served with a summons on the street.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Dmytro Lazutkin, explained that the update of credentials through the "Reserve+" application means compliance with the law, which came into force on May 18. But at the same time, a person can be wanted for violating the rules of military registration and be referred to a military medical commission.
He also stated that there is currently no reason to extend the deadline for updating military registration data.
Simplified procedure for compensation for destroyed property in temporarily occupied territories
MPs adopted in the first reading the draft law on changes to the procedure for compensation for damaged and destroyed property as a result of Russia's armed aggression.
The bill proposes to ease the compensation procedure by equating damaged assets on occupied lands with destroyed ones.
Saving electricity will become a part of everyday life
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukrainians will be forced to consume electricity sparingly in the coming years, as the consequences of Russian attacks on the energy sector are long-term.
According to him, more than 9 GW of generation capacity was lost due to Russian attacks. However, the government has a strategy for solving the problem, which consists of five large blocs.
