The United States allowed Azov to use American weapons, lifting a long-standing ban. In the center of Zaporizhzhia, an unknown man opened fire on a local official, as a result of which he died. We collected the main news for June 11.

Azov's permit for weapons from the USA

Joe Biden's administration allowed the National Guard of Ukraine’s Azov brigade to use American weapons.

About 10 years ago, the unit was banned from using American weapons because US officials believed that some of its founders held racist, xenophobic, and ultra-nationalist views, and UN human rights defenders accused the brigade of violating humanitarian norms.

Murder of an official in Zaporizhzhia

In the center of Zaporizhzhia, near the entrance of a high-rise building, an unknown man fired four shots at a local official with a firearm and disappeared from the scene. Investigators opened criminal proceedings over intentional murder.

According to hromadske sources, Maxim Denshchik, who held the position of director of the Department of Legal Support of the Zaporizhia City Council, was shot. In May, he was temporarily suspended pending an official investigation. And even earlier, he complained about pressure and threats of "retaliation by law enforcement agencies" from Ivan Fedorov, the head of Zaporizhzhya Oblast Military Administration.

Suspicion of a teacher at the military academy in Lviv

The State Bureau of Investigation reported the charges to the head of the training course of one of the faculties of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Academy of Ground Forces in Lviv.

Investigators managed to document the use of force on four cadets, who were beaten on the head and in various parts of the body by the teacher. He did it not only with his hands, but also with the butt of a weapon and a belt. To discipline one of the cadets for being late, he made him eat cigarettes in front of the others.

Fight of military commissariat workers and doctors in Odesa

The police reported that they had identified and interviewed witnesses and eyewitnesses. Some of the participants in the incident were invited to the police station, where law enforcement officers worked with them. The police did not reveal the details of the fight. The military prosecutor's office also started criminal proceedings based on Part 4 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — hooliganism.

In the Odesa Territorial Recruitment Center, the fight with the medics was explained by the fact that they refused to show documents about belonging to the health care system.

Information about the death of the former mayor charged with treason

Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate, reported that the former mayor of the city of Kupyansk in Kharkiv Oblast, Hennadiy Matsehora, died after an assassination attempt that took place a few days ago. Subsequently, Yusov noted that the information about Matsehora's death needs additional clarification.
