The Odesa Regional Military Administration responded to the words of Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov, who opposed the renaming of streets in the city.
According to Oleh Kiper, the head of the Regional Military Administration, there is no place in the current realities of the Ukrainian city for streets named after people who “received medals from Putin, collaborated with the KGB, or glorified the Soviet Union and its empire”.
Meanwhile, the head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, also opposed the renaming of the city's street names. In particular, changing the names of streets associated with the Second World War and the Afghanistan War, he said, would “harm the unity of our society in the face of the enemy”.
