Russia reports attack by 117 drones with air bases allegedly targeted

Russia was under a massive overnight attack by drones and missiles, announced the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Locals mention attacks on air bases, in particular Savasleyka, from which warplanes attack Ukraine.

The department says that overnight they destroyed four tactical missiles and 117 fixed-wing drones. The majority were intercepted over Kursk and Voronezh oblasts — 37 drones each. Some were also allegedly shot down over the Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Volgograd, Bryansk, and Rostov oblasts.

The Astra Telegram channel writes that in the morning drones were spotted over the settlements of Veletma and Savasleyka in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. Local resources stated "about 10 hits" at the military air base Savasleyka and that a territory nearby was blocked.

MiG-31 aircraft, carriers of the Kinzhal missiles, with which the Russian Federation bombards Ukraine, are based at this air base.

Residents also claimed at night that the Borisoglebsk military airfield caught fire after an UAV attack, but there is no confirmation yet, Astra reports.

Belgorod Oblast Governor Gladkov reported an alleged attack by Ukrainians on several settlements. Later, he said that the drone had targeted a truck. The driver was hospitalized in serious condition.

The governors of the Volgograd, Bryansk, Kursk, and Rostov oblasts did not report any casualties.

The Russians blamed Ukraine for the attacks. So far, the authorities or the Security and Defense Forces have not commented on these statements.
