Russians attacks substation at Zaporizhzhia NPP. Facility on verge of blackout
Russian troops attacked the substation and cut off the power supply line of the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Now the station is on the verge of blackout, reported the Ministry of Energy.
Currently, power engineers are working to eliminate the consequences of enemy shelling in order to restore full power to the facility as soon as possible.
"Another act of Russian terrorism created a threat of an accident at the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP. We demand immediate implementation of the IAEA resolution and the return of the occupied nuclear power plant under Ukrainian control. Safe operation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP is possible only under the control of Ukraine," said Energy Minister German Halushchenko.
What is happening now at the ZNPP?
In August, the IAEA team visited the ZNPP. At that time, the general director of the organization, Rafael Grossi, said that the situation with nuclear safety at the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP is deteriorating. At that time, plumes of black smoke were recorded from the cooling tower occupied by the Russians at the ZNPP. IAEA experts said they witnessed "heavy dark smoke" near the Zaporizhzhia NPP after "numerous explosions".
IAEA specialists visited the cooling tower of the ZNPP, where the fire broke out, but found neither tires nor the wreckage of the drone. Yevhen Yevtushenko, the Nikopol District Military Administration head, assumed that tires were deliberately set on fire by the occupation administration. At the same time, Yevgeny Balitsky, the Russian pupper governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, claimed that the fire was caused by a Ukrainian drone strike.
