Air defense shoots down more than half of Russian drones flying to Ukraine
Overnight, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 80 Shahed kamikaze drones, as well as UAVs of an unknown type. 41 of them were shot down, reported the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Most of the drones that were launched from Oryol, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Federation were destroyed within the boundaries of Kyiv and Odesa oblasts. Interceptions were also recorded in the Mykolaiv, Kherson, Sumy, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi and Chernihiv oblasts.
Another 32 Russian drones disappeared from radar, and one flew in the direction of Belarus.
The Sumy Oblast Military Administration said that the Russians hit the energy facilities of the critical infrastructure of the Romny district with Shaheds. The emergency services are working on the spot, and the consequences of the attack are being clarified.
About ten Russian drones attacked Kyiv — they were all neutralized on the outskirts of the city. No casualties or damage were recorded, the Kyiv City Military Administration says.
