Russia fires 1,000 shells at Kherson in 40 minutes. Casualties reported

Russian troops launched a massive attack on Kherson on the morning of December 20. There are dead and wounded, reported the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, on the United News telethon.

"The Russians created a real hell in Kherson this morning, starting to cover the city with massive fire from 5 a.m.," the official said.

The Russian military launched a combined strike with artillery and multiple rocket launchers on Kherson and surrounding settlements, the regional police reported. The attack lasted about an hour.

According to Prokudin, within 40 minutes, about 1,000 shells fell on Kherson alone, and there were impacts in all areas of the city. As noted by the regional authorities, the Russians targeted residential buildings, social and critical infrastructure.

More than 30 high-rises, 15 private houses, cars, garages, outbuildings, a railway station, police administrative buildings, and medical and educational institutions were damaged in the city.

There were fires almost everywhere, which were already contained by emergency services, the regional governor added.

Two men were killed, 11 more people were injured, reported the head of the city military administration Roman Mrochko. Seven men and four women were found to have explosive injuries, shrapnel wounds, and contusions. All were hospitalized. In particular, one of the injured is in very serious condition.
