Ukraine under massive attack by Russian missiles and drones. Emergency power outages introduced in some regions

On Wednesday morning, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine using cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones, reported the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After midnight, Russian drones were being used to strike Ukraine. Closer to 6 a.m., the military warned of a missile threat.

Monitoring channels reported the takeoff of three Tu-95MS bombers from the Olenya airfield, and later the MiG-31K Kinzhal carrier also took off.

After that, the Air Force reported the entry of cruise missiles into Ukrainian airspace, and also warned of a ballistic threat to Kharkiv.

Later, explosions were heard there, public broadcaster Suspilne reported, and air defense was operating on the outskirts of Cherkasy.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said that the Russians attacked the energy infrastructure of Lviv Oblast and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, an electrical substation on Khreshchatyk in Kyiv caught fire, the Kyiv City State Administration said. They were waiting for the arrival of the DTEK brigade to gain access to extinguish the fire.

Due to the attack on Ukraine, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced scrambling its military aviation. They involved "all available forces and means": combat pairs went on duty, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were brought "to the highest state of readiness."

Ukrenergo reported that emergency power outages will be implemented in Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad oblasts due to the massive missile attack.
