Russia hits Ukraine with 181 drones, 4 missiles
Russia struck Ukraine overnight into March 5 with 181 Shahed drones and other UAVs, plus three Iskander-M/KN-23 missiles and one S-300 guided missile, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
Fighter jets, anti-aircraft units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups shot down 115 drones across Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, and Odesa oblasts. Another 55 Russian decoy drones vanished from radar without causing harm. The Air Force summary did not mention missile intercepts.
The attack hit Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv oblasts.
Late the previous evening, Odesa’s regional administration reported damage to critical infrastructure and homes in Odesa, leaving parts of the city without power, water, or heating — restored by morning. In Lymanka, a suburb, a 77-year-old man died from shrapnel wounds.
Russian ballistic missiles also struck the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, nearly destroying an empty sanatorium.
In Kyiv Oblast’s Boryspil district, Russian strikes damaged homes, cars, a shop, a kindergarten, and a school, the regional administration said. No critical infrastructure was hit, and there were no casualties.
In Kharkiv Oblast’s Izyum district, Shahed drone debris fell in an open area, sparking a grass fire. More debris landed in a forest in Chuhuiv district, with no injuries reported. In Kharkiv city, a Shahed struck warehouses and a trolleybus depot, damaging windows and buses.
In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Russia fired missiles at industrial sites in Pavlohrad. A fire broke out at one but was extinguished. Windows in two five-story buildings were also shattered, though no one was reportedly hurt.
