Russia attacks Ukraine with 174 drones. Defenders down over half of aerial targets
From Sunday evening, Russian troops unleashed a barrage of 174 strike UAVs, including Shaheds and decoy drones, targeting Ukraine from multiple Russian launch points: Oryol, Shatalovo, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, according to the Ukrainian Air Force Command.
Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups repelled the assault, neutralizing 90 Shaheds and other UAVs by 9:00 AM across Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa oblasts.
Another 70 decoy drones were lost to radar without causing harm.
Consequences of the attack
In Odesa Oblast, Governor Oleh Kiper reported damage to a preschool, a private home, a shop, and a car in the Odesa district, with one person injured.
A hit on energy infrastructure in Odesa’s suburbs cut power to about 500 households.
In Kyiv Oblast’s Fastiv district, a fire erupted at a manufacturing facility but was extinguished, said regional governor Mykola Kalashnyk.
Kharkiv Oblast’s Kamyana Yaruha saw a 1,000-square-meter blaze at an enterprise after a Shahed strike, according to regional governor Oleg Synegubov.
In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Pavlohrad and Synelnykove districts suffered infrastructure damage, including a house, garage, and fire truck, according to governor Serhiy Lysak.
Kirovohrad, Sumy, and Chernihiv oblasts also reported impacts, though details are pending.
