Russian troops attack Ukraine with six missiles and 145 drones. Two hospitals hit in Sumy Oblast
In the early hours of March 19, Russia bombarded Ukrainian regions with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, four S-300 anti-aircraft missiles, and 145 Shahed drones and decoy UAVs, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
The attack was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups.
Ukrainian defenses downed 72 drones across Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa oblasts, while 56 decoy drones vanished from radar without causing harm.
In Sumy, a Russian drone crashed into the roof of the regional clinical hospital, and another struck a medical facility in the Krasnopillia territorial community. Fires broke out at both sites but were extinguished, with no casualties reported, though both buildings sustained damage, per the regional administration.
Kyiv Oblast also suffered: in Bucha district, private homes were damaged or partially destroyed, and a fire engulfed townhouses, injuring a 60-year-old man in both legs, said regional chief Mykola Kalashnyk.
Grass fires were put out in Obukhiv and Fastiv districts, and a home was hit in Boryspil district.
In Poltava’s Myrhorod district, drone debris damaged an enterprise warehouse and ignited straw, though no one was hurt.
The city of Dnipro and Pavlohrad district in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast saw fires and damage to an infrastructure site from the drone strikes.
