Russia accuses Ukraine of attacking energy facilities after agreements in Riyadh. General Staff denies

The Russian Ministry of Defense accused Ukraine of violating agreements on a mutual ceasefire at energy facilities. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine asserted that this is untrue in a statement.

According to the Russians, overnight on March 25, near the coast of temporarily occupied Crimea in the area of Cape Tarkhankut, the Russian air defenses shot down drones that were allegedly intended to strike ground equipment at the Glebovka gas storage facility.

In the early hours of the morning, residents of one of the districts of Bryansk Oblast of the Russian Federation were left without electricity, allegedly due to a high-voltage power line being cut off. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, this happened after an attack on a power facility.

And on the afternoon of March 25, an attack in Kursk Oblast led to a cascade shutdown of a number of substations, leaving more than 4,000 consumers without electricity, the Russian authorities claim.

At the same time, the General Staff emphasized that on March 25-26, the Defense Forces did not launch drone strikes on Russian energy facilities in the Kursk, Bryansk oblasts, and occupied Crimea.

"The military department of the aggressor state is spreading false and baseless accusations in order to prolong the war, continue false propaganda, and typical Russian attempts to deceive the world," the Ukrainian military said.

Agreement to stop attacks on infrastructure

The day before, the United States, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation published the results of technical-level talks held in Saudi Arabia on March 23-25. Ukraine and Russia did not communicate directly, but through the United States as a mediator.

Then all parties, in particular, agreed to develop measures to implement the agreement on the prohibition of attacks on energy facilities of Russia and Ukraine.

The Ukrainian side has handed over to US representatives a list of energy facilities that Russia should not strike. Meanwhile, the Kremlin has published a list of Russian and Ukrainian facilities that, by agreement of the parties, cannot be attacked during the 30-day ceasefire.
