Ukrainian forces reclaim 16 km² near Pokrovsk, army chief says

Over recent weeks, Ukraine’s Defense Forces liberated approximately 16 square kilometers of territory near the towns of Udachne, Kotlyne, and Shevchenko near Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said after visiting the operational zone of the Donetsk Operational-Tactical Grouping.

“For three days, I was with nearly all brigades of this, the most powerful grouping of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, which bears the brunt of countering the enemy’s spring offensive and destroying its best forces and equipment,” General Syrskyi stated.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian troops repel around 30 Russian assault operations daily, inflicting significant losses on the occupiers, he added.

Syrskyi reviewed reports from Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, commander of the operational-tactical group, and worked with brigade commanders at their command posts. On-site, they addressed issues related to combat operations, ammunition supply, and material-technical support, Syrskyi noted.

He emphasized that Russia has not abandoned its goal of pushing Ukrainian units beyond Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts to reach their administrative borders, but these plans remain unfulfilled.
