Ukraine loses Su-27 jet, pilot survives
Ukraine lost an Su-27 fighter jet while repelling a Russian drone attack this morning, the Air Force reported, with the pilot safely ejecting, as reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
After the pilot ejected, he was located by a search-and-rescue team, which transported him to a hospital. His condition is stable, and his life is not in danger, according to the Air Force.
A special commission has been established to investigate the cause of the incident and has already begun its work.
The Su-27, alongside the MiG-29, is a primary aircraft in Ukraine’s fighter aviation fleet. It is operated by two brigades: the 831st Tactical Aviation Brigade based in Myrhorod, Poltava Oblast, and the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade based in Ozerne, Zhytomyr Oblast.
