Russia attacks Ukraine with over 100 drones, 62 downed
Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 110 Shahed drones and decoy drones overnight into Thursday, with Ukraine’s air defenses downing 62 and reporting damage in five oblasts, the Air Force command reported.
Launched from Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, and Millerovo in Russia, the drones targeted eastern, northern, western, and central Ukraine, with 62 Shaheds destroyed and 29 decoy drones lost to radar.
The Sumy Oblast Military Administration reported about 10 drones striking civilian infrastructure in a village, sparking a fire that emergency services tackled, with no initial casualties.
In Poltava’s Lubny district, a downed drone ignited a house and car, with the fire contained but nearby buildings damaged, per the regional administration.
Ivano-Frankivsk regional officials confirmed air defenses engaged, with no casualties but damage assessments ongoing, per their report.
Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Serhiy Lysak said a drone hit Mezhova community, partially destroying a cultural center, damaging homes, shops, and cars, while Nikopol, Marhanets, and Myrivka communities faced drone and artillery strikes, damaging an apartment building and kindergarten.
Kyiv Oblast also reported damage from the attack.
