Ukraine strikes Russia's Engels and Dyagilevo airbases in preemptive attack
Ukrainian Defense Forces have conducted strikes on several Russian military infrastructure targets, including the Engels and Dyagilevo airbases, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
The Engels airbase in Saratov Oblast was reportedly housing Russian aircraft that remained after Ukraine's Security Service operation "Spiderweb." The Dyagilevo airbase in Ryazan Oblast is used by Russian strategic bombers, aerial refueling tankers, and escort fighters, which have been involved in missile strikes against Ukraine. While the results of the strikes are still being verified, fires have been observed in the vicinity of the airbase.
Additionally, Ukrainian forces struck at least three fuel storage tanks in Saratov Oblast, causing a large fire that has not yet been extinguished.
Ukrainian forces also targeted a logistics point of the 30th Motor Rifle Regiment of the 72nd Motor Rifle Division of the Russian Army near the settlement of Kulbaki in Kursk Oblast. The results of this strike are also being clarified.
Earlier, the governor of Saratov Oblast reported an attack by Ukrainian drones that damaged a residential apartment building and an industrial facility where a fire occurred. However, the Telegram channel Astra claimed that the attack targeted an oil refinery.
Pavel Malkov, the governor of Ryazan Oblast, also reported the destruction of Ukrainian drones but did not specify if there were any hits. According to him, there were no casualties.
