Ukraine’s intelligence kills 12 in sabotage attack on Russian air defense base
This morning, a sabotage attack took place in Afipsky, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, targeting the military base of Russia’s 90th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade, resulting in explosions, according to hromadske’s sources in Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate.
Sources reported that two explosions occurred near the checkpoint of the military base.
The attack killed at least 12 Russian soldiers, injured dozens more, and destroyed military equipment. Ambulances and vehicles from emergency and special services were observed at the scene.
Local media and social media channels confirmed two explosions in Afipsky. Russian security services cordoned off the area and imposed an “anti-terrorist operation” regime.
Despite this, Russian authorities claimed the explosions were caused by faulty gas-cylinder equipment in a vehicle. Intelligence sources stated that Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) is attempting to suppress media coverage to conceal the sabotage.
The 90th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade is involved in Russia’s war against Ukraine, operating in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia sectors, the military intelligence added.
