Russia targets rail lines, causes power outages, halts dozens of trains
Russian forces attacked Ukraine's railway infrastructure overnight into Wednesday, causing delays for more than 40 trains and route changes, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.
The company said Russians conducted a complex attack on substations, delaying passenger trains on the Odesa and Dnipro routes. Some trains are taking alternate routes, while others were halted at a safe distance from the strike zone by dispatchers.
Due to the attack, trains will temporarily not run on these routes:
Znamyanka — Shevchenko — Cherkasy; Znamyanka — Myronivka; Znamyanka — Pomichna.
Train Kolosivka — Znamyanka is shortened to Kropyvnytskyi station, and train Pomichna — Znamyanka will run only to Sakharna station.
Meanwhile, the State Emergency Service reported that rescuers are addressing the aftermath of the overnight attack in Kirovohrad Oblast.
The enemy struck infrastructure sites, and fires broke out at three locations due to Russian drone hits.
Kirovohrad Oblast Military Administration head Andriy Raikovych said the Russian attack partially cut off electricity to the regional center and 44 settlements in the Oleksandrivka rural territorial community.
Several private homes in Oleksandrivka were also damaged.
Additionally, Russian forces struck Cherkasy Oblast. Cherkasy Oblast Military Administration head Ihor Taburetets said the attack affected critical infrastructure.
