Russian strikes de-energize Poltava Oblast rail lines, delaying 4 trains

Russian forces attacked Poltava Oblast overnight into Thursday, temporarily cutting power to several rail sections in the region, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.

The company said diesel locomotives were deployed on the de-energized sections. Due to the Russian attack, several passenger trains were delayed by up to three hours:

Kherson to Kramatorsk; Kharkiv, Izyum to Lviv; Lviv to Kharkiv, Izyum; Kremenchuk to Kyiv.

As of 7 a.m. on Thursday, the damage had been localized and power restored.

Trains, including suburban electric trains, will now operate on schedule.

Poltava Oblast Military Administration head Volodymyr Kohut said Russians targeted rail infrastructure in the Myrhorod district overnight, sparking a fire that has been extinguished.

One person was injured in the Russian attack.

On Wednesday, Russian forces struck rail infrastructure in Kirovohrad Oblast, causing delays and route changes for several trains.
