Russian strikes cut power in Chernihiv after barrage
Russian troops hammered Ukraine's Chernihiv Oblast with a massive barrage, triggering emergency power outages in the city of Chernihiv, regional governor Vyacheslav Chaus reported on Telegram.
Chaus reported 51 aerial targets over the region in the past day, including two ballistic missiles.
Shahed drone strikes hit a heating facility and energy sites in two territorial communities in the Chernihiv district
The attacks caused blackouts in Chernihiv and northern communities.
"Our power engineers are working to restore supply," Chaus said. "Critical infrastructure has switched to generators. Invincibility points are partially deployed. If restoration takes longer, we'll expand them."
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said more than 20 invincibility points are operating in the region, half at State Emergency Service bases and others at police units. They offer warmth, phone charging and contact with loved ones.
Late on Monday, the Chernihivoblenergo utility company reported a drone strike on an energy facility that cut power to the region's northern part.
Kyiv regional governor Mykola Kalashnyk also reported that Slavutych, legally under Kyiv Oblast but geographically in northern Chernihiv Oblast, also lost power from the Russian attack.
