Ukraine hit by over 650 drones and 50 missiles in combined Russian attack

Russian forces launched a "complex combined strike" on Ukraine overnight into Thursday, using over 650 drones and more than 50 missiles of various types, including ballistic and aeroballistic missiles, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported.

According to Zelenskyy, many of the targets were intercepted, but some strikes hit their marks. Emergency and rescue operations are ongoing in multiple regions.

In Zaporizhzhia, the aggressor damaged residential buildings and a dormitory. Dozens of people were injured in the attack, including five children. Two people were killed, and rescue operations continue. In Ladyzhyn, Vinnytsia Oblast, a seven-year-old boy sustained severe injuries.

Civilian infrastructure and energy facilities were targeted in Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv oblasts.

"All the necessary services are deployed on the sites. All efforts should be made to restore power and water supply as swiftly as possible wherever it’s been disrupted," Zelenskyy stated.

In response to the attack, Zelenskyy called on the United States, Europe, and the G7 to impose new sanctions on Russia, targeting its oil and gas industry, financial sector, and secondary sanctions on those sponsoring the war.
