Air defenses neutralize 61 of 80 drones used by Russia to attack Ukraine
Ukraine's air defenses downed 61 of 80 Russian drones launched overnight into Wednesday, with strikes wounding three people in Chernihiv Oblast and causing fires, the Air Force reported.
Russians attacked Ukraine at night with 80 strike drones of the Shahed, Gerbera and other types from Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. About 50 of the launched targets were Shaheds.
As of 9 a.m., air defenses had neutralized 61 Russian UAVs. The aerial assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
Hits from 18 strike drones were recorded at seven locations, and falls of downed ones at two locations.
Military officials stressed that the Russian attack is ongoing, with several UAVs detected in the airspace.
Overnight, due to the Russian drone attack, three people were injured in Novhorod-Siverskyi in Chernihiv Oblast, the State Emergency Service reported.
As a result of the hits, a fire broke out in a summer kitchen and outbuilding. Several private homes and two passenger cars were also damaged. Rescuers extinguished all fires.
